Customs - Travelling with Tinned Food
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can help with this one please? We are travelling to Florida in August and would like to bring some tinned Beans & Sausage. My son is autistic and this the main food that he eats. I've tried working through a variety of customs websites and I'm totally confused! Am I able to bring this item into the US? Many Thanks |

You may want to check out the U.S. Customs and Border Protection site. The sausage in the beans may pose a problem, but not certain.

I've often taken Bistro powder to the USA for my ex pat auntie.
I declare it and then there will be a hold up while they determine that no , it doesn't contain meat, despite the pictures on the box. The point I'm making is that CBP are red hot on looking at potential meat products no matter how commercially packaged they are. You can take plain beans and declare. Personally I would also take a few tins with the sausages in - make sure you declare them and explain why you have brought them. You won't get into trouble if you've declared them and the customs officer will make the determination as to whether you can keep them. If it's a no and they go in the bin it's not a big loss. Might take a bit of time to sort out though when you are tired from the flight. |
